ACCP Student Travel Awards

ACCP offers travel stipends to help defray the costs students incur when attending the ACCP national meeting. Student Travel Awards are administered through the ACCP Foundation and funded by the Student Travel Award Fund.

How to Apply

ACCP student members in good standing who are full-time students pursuing their first professional pharmacy degree at an accredited college or school of pharmacy are invited to apply.

Applicants should submit:

  • A completed online application
  • A CV or resume
  • Two letters of recommendation from a clinical pharmacy practitioner or faculty member
  • A personal essay of up to 500 words describing the applicant’s interest in ACCP and objectives for attending the national meeting

PRN Student Travel Awards

In addition to ACCP Student Travel Awards, the following PRNs also provide travel awards to defray costs associated with attending the ACCP national meeting. Please see below for more information about each travel award, including eligibility and application deadlines.

Ambulatory Care

Description

The Ambulatory Care PRN student travel award will help support the costs associated with travel and attendance to the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria: 1) Full-time pharmacy student pursuing their first professional pharmacy degree 2) Student member of ACCP 3) Willing to attend the Ambulatory Care PRN Business and Networking Forum at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Application Requirements

Provide in one email the following documents: 1) Curriculum Vitae: Specific items to include if applicable: --ACCP involvement (i.e. ACCP committees (including StuNet), PRN membership, attendance at meetings, attendance at PRN meetings, participation in the ACCP clinical pharmacy challenge, research poster presentation, including all School/College level ACCP involvement) Other professional organization involvement/leadership including School/College group/committee/board. --Participation in other professional competitions --Publications, poster presentations, and other scholarly projects (DUE, QI) --Community service/volunteer work 2) Letter of support from a current faculty member at the applicant’s school, mentor, or preceptor. Cardiology

Description

The Cardiology PRN will award two travel grants of $750 each to support the costs associated with the ACCP Annual Meeting in October 2024. One grant will be dedicated to a full-time student pharmacist with an interest in cardiology and is currently enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy program.

Eligibility

Candidates must be current members of ACCP and the Cardiology PRN who are full-time pharmacy students pursuing their Doctor of Pharmacy degree

Application Requirements

Each applicant may submit only one application in consideration for this award. Applications must include:
  • Applicant’s current curriculum vitae
  • Two letters of reference
  • , and
  • One-page letter of intent (LOI): In the LOI state your interest in cardiology (and/or the Cardiology PRN), reasons for attending the ACCP Annual Meeting, and describe any abstracts (research, cases, systematic reviews, research in progress, etc.) you will submit to present at the 2024 ACCP Annual Meeting. If the awardee has an abstract accepted, in addition to presenting at the poster session(s), the awardee will have the opportunity to present at the ACCP Cardiology PRN annual business meeting.
  • Letters of recommendation should be submitted directly from the reference writer to Kristin Watson, Pharm D, MS, BCCP All application materials should be submitted via email to Dr. Kristin Watson. A selection committee organized by the current chair of the Cardiology PRN’s Student and Trainee Committee, Dr. Jenna Cox, will select award recipients based on a pre-determined scoring system. Those awarded a Student or ACCP travel award will not be eligible for a Cardiology PRN award. Award recipients will be responsible for the initial cost of meeting expenses and reimbursed following the completion of the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Clinical Administration

Description

Travel award for one pharmacy student to present their research in the area of clinical administration at the ACCP Annual Meeting. Recipients are expected to attend the Clinical Administration PRN Business Meeting and give a presentation (5-10 minutes) on their project. Recipients are also expected to actively participate on a Clinical Administration PRN committee the following year.

- Enrolled in a school or college of pharmacy. - Student member of ACCP and in good standing. - Current member of the Clinical Administration PRN member or willing to join if selected. - Initiated a project during pharmacy school that will be complete and is appropriate for presentation during the Clinical Administration PRN Business Meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Application Requirements

Applications should be submitted to the Chair of the Nominations Committee and should include the following 3 items: (1) abstract of the project using ACCP guidelines; (2) brief statement (250-word max) highlighting the applicant's interest in clinical pharmacy practice (include your name, graduation year, and school or college of pharmacy); and (3) current curriculum vitae (CV). Please submit everything is one combined file (Word document or PDF). Preference will be given to projects also submitted and accepted for presentation at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Drug Information

Description

The Drug Information PRN will be offering a travel award in the amount of $1,000 for one student who will be presenting a drug information-related poster or research at the ACCP Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona on October 12 - 15, 2024.

Applicants for this award should be a member of the DI PRN, a full-time pharmacy student pursuing his/her first professional pharmacy degree, and will be presenting a drug information-related poster or research at the ACCP Annual Meeting. Applicants must agree to attend and give a 10-minute presentation at the DI PRN business meeting at the ACCP Annual Meeting.

Endocrine and Metabolism

Description

The Endocrine and Metabolism (E/M) PRN Trainee Travel Grant is intended to provide financial support for one or more students, residents, and/or fellows attending the ACCP Annual Meeting.
  • Each recipient of the travel grant is required to give a brief (10-minute) presentation at the E/M PRN Business & Networking meeting. The presentation can be an endocrine or metabolism clinical pearl, a description of a completed or ongoing research project, or a journal article review.
  • Each recipient of the travel grant will be assigned a mentor (who is a member of the E/M PRN) who will provide guidance with the preparation of this presentation.

Eligibility

Applicants must be: 1) a current student, resident, or fellow, and 2) a member of the ACCP E/M PRN. Attempts will be made to award one (1) student award and one (1) resident/fellow award; if, however, only students or only residents/fellows apply, the PRN may award 2 travel grants to applicants from the same category. Please note ACCP policy prevents awarding a second Travel Grant to a past recipient of the E/M PRN Travel Grant.

Application Requirements

The following materials should be submitted electronically to the Chair of the E/M Membership Committee by 5pm (EST) August 15, 2024: 1) A statement explaining the applicant’s interest and involvement in endocrine/metabolism PRN, objectives for meeting attendance, and rationale for their pursuit of a clinical pharmacy career in Endocrine/Metabolism; 2) a current copy of the applicant’s curriculum vitae; 3) One letter of recommendation from a pharmacy preceptor, professor, or residency/program director (this letter may be emailed separately).

Hematology/Oncology

Description

The Hematology/Oncology (H/O) PRN will be awarding one travel grant of $1000 to support the costs associated with attending the 2024 ACCP Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ in October. This grant will be dedicated to a full-time student pharmacist in good academic standing with an interest in hematology/oncology. The awardee must present findings of a hematology oncology-related project at the Hematology/Oncology PRN Business Meeting in the form of a platform presentation and submit an abstract to present a poster of research findings at the Annual Meeting.

Eligibility

1. Current student in good academic standing enrolled full-time in an ACPE-accredited pharmacy school. 2. Current ACCP member. 3. Current Hematology/Oncology PRN member or willing to become a member if selected. 4. Agrees to attend ACCP’s Annual Meeting and participate in the program activities. 5. Desire to present a research poster at the Annual Meeting and a 10 minutes podium presentation of research findings at the H/O PRN business meeting. Research or project topic must be related to hematology/oncology and initiated during pharmacy school.

Application Requirements

Applicants may only submit one application to be considered for the award. Applicants must have submitted an abstract for consideration to present at the 2024 ACCP Annual Meeting. Irrespective of being selected to present the abstract findings, applicants must agree to present a maximum 10-minute platform presentation at the PRN’s Business and Networking Forum at the ACCP Annual Meeting. Please submit an updated curriculum vitae (including name, graduation year, college of pharmacy), one letter of reference, a one-page letter of intent (LOI), and a copy of the submitted abstract. The letter of reference should be provided by either a clinical pharmacy practitioner or faculty member and should be submitted directly to the chair of the Membership and Operations Committee (Ariel Denson) by the writer. The LOI should be a maximum of 500 words and express your interest in hematology/oncology, demonstrate service/dedication and professional development or strong interest in professional development and/or research, reason(s) for attending the ACCP Annual Meeting, and describe abstract(s) submitted or planning to submit to present at the ACCP Annual Meeting. Submitting an abstract according to the ACCP Annual Meeting deadlines is required. However, an accepted abstract is not a requirement to receive the award. All application materials should be submitted via email to the current chair of the H/O PRN Membership & Operations Committee chair, Ariel Denson ([email protected]). An organized selection committee comprised of members of the H/O PRN Membership & Operations Committee will select the award recipient using a predetermined scoring-system and rubric. Those awarded an ACCP travel award will not be eligible for the Hematology/Oncology PRN award. Pulmonary

Description

The Pulmonary PRN offers a travel award to one (1) PRN student or resident members who has an interest in pulmonary pharmacy, meets eligibility requirements, and is selected by the Workforce & Strategic Committee. The award supports registration expenses for one student or resident member of the Pulmonary PRN.

Applicants must be members of ACCP and the ACCP Pulmonary PRN as well as attend the Pulmonary PRN business and networking meeting at the Annual Meeting. The applicant will be expected to present a poster or other brief presentation on a pulmonary topic at the Pulmonary PRN business and networking meeting. Please indicate, if applicable, the title of your poster or proposed presentation to be presented at the ACCP Annual Meeting. Previous award recipients are ineligible.
